Event Details

The service dogs in our K-9 program for at-risk youth are respected and admired by just about everyone they encounter. Youth in juvenile detention facilities respond very favorably to the interaction between highly trained service dogs and their Faithful Friend handlers. Rarely is the model of trust, obedience, positive behavior and reward so clearly demonstrated for young people.

In their incarceration and isolation from many negative outside influences, at-risk youth can reflect on the interactions in which they’ve participated and absorb the lessons and examples taught, and apply these principles to their own lives, behavior and goals.
